Bliptronics RGB LED Pixel. Each pixel is fully controllable and addressable individually from an Arduino. For use with an Arduino, use the FastSPI Library from HERE.

They can be individually controlled via a 2 wire interface (clock and data). Each LED accepts 5 bits for Red, Green, Blue for a total of 32,768 bright colors in a 16 bit payload. The data can be clocked in at up to 25 MHz, so you can drive thousands of them at a very high frame rate. Video screen anyone? Even an Arduino can run thousands with ease using just two data lines. Each LED is daisy-chained off the previous LED. The interconnecting wires can be up to several meters in length. Each module contains one SMD RGB (5050) LED and a controller chip (LPD6803S).

Modules can be daisy-chained indefinitely, however power should be applied to chains longer than 40 and then again for every chain of 40 LEDs. This ensures consistent brightness along the chain.
